UK based Software and Managed Services business

This client is a fast-growing enterprise software and managed services business (Turnover £10m), backed by private ownership, that brought me in to fix a commercial engine that wasn't keeping pace with the rest of the business.

I started the same way I always do: a forensic, evidence-led diagnostic across the commercial function, rather than jumping straight to recommendations. That diagnostic shaped a full commercial transformation, redesigning how the sales team qualified and progressed deals, how leads were generated, and how territory and pipeline were structured.

The AI element is the part I'm proudest of. I personally designed and deployed an enterprise AI implementation across six configured business functions, embedding it directly into how the sales team qualifies and closes deals, with deal-qualification logic built straight into the CRM. This wasn't a chatbot bolted on as a side initiative; it's now part of how the team actually works day to day, and it's the clearest example I have of what AI adoption looks like when it's designed around a business's real structure rather than dropped in from outside.

The relationship has continued well beyond the original engagement. I'm still working with the CEO on an ongoing basis, including advising directly on senior hiring decisions.

The CEO's own words: "We needed someone who understands this world and has a proven commercial background. [Neil] more than met my expectations. What really surprised me was the energy and pace at which [he] works."

As with every engagement, the discipline stays the same: diagnose the structure before assuming a people problem, and stay close enough to the business that the relationship deepens rather than ends when the contract does.
