With three production plants in Italy and four international sales and service branches, Angelantoni Test Technologies is a global leader in the design and manufacture of simulated environmental test chambers and space-environment testing infrastructure.

Between 2021 and 2022, I supported Angelantoni Test Technologies as a consultant on the design, fabrication and installation of an integrated, modular Bulk Plasma Measurement system (including the associated electronics unit) for electric propulsion test environments. The system was engineered to characterise key plasma parameters—such as electron temperature, ion density, plasma potential, and the electron energy distribution function (EEDF)—under representative vacuum and plume conditions.

The delivered solution comprised a dedicated probe suite, including three Langmuir probes and nine Faraday probes, integrated and installed in CIRA’s Medium Scale Vacuum Chamber (MSVC)—an ultra-high-vacuum facility configured as a space simulator for electric (ion/plasma) propulsion testing. The MSVC chamber was originally supplied to CIRA by ACS, and the probe system was designed to interface reliably with the facility’s operational constraints, measurement-chain requirements, and test-campaign workflows.
