Freight and logistics optimization for a top 5 steel producer globally

Given the constraints faced due to the geo-political situation in Eastern Europe, the company wished to realign and streamline its inland surface logistics - rail and road and also barge movements for import and export of raw materials and finished goods via ports on the Black Sea. The CFO had a mandate to reduce the overall freight and logistics spends of the company. The company also wished to understand feasibility of using various port compbinations for bulk shipment of raw materials from new origins in Asia. It also wished to review the vessel chartering SOPs for bulk carriers.
The company also has manufacturing units in South Australia and wanted to optimize cost and logistics (incl transshipment) for imports of coal and coke and exports of finshed goods.
