Global Nonprofit Membership Association

A global professional membership association formed in 2014 to connect emergency responders, academic researchers, technologists, and community advocates around virtual and digital emergency management practice. Its operational core was VOST — Virtual Operations Support Teams, the practice of using trusted, geographically distributed digital volunteers to handle social media monitoring and information triage during live disasters so that physical emergency operations centers could offload that work. Chartered objectives included establishing standards for virtual and digital emergency teams and mentoring adoption of collaborative tools across the profession. All-volunteer, seven-person board, no paid staff.
