BEES - BE Engineers for Society S.r.l.

BEES – BE Engineers for Society is an Italian technology start-up that develops advanced, high-performance, and sustainable solutions for the aerospace, naval, and industrial sectors. The company specialises in automation, human–machine interfaces (HMI), systems acquisition, and enabling technologies such as smart sensing, data and IoT architectures, advanced materials, and space-related testing and diagnostics. BEES’ mission is human-centric: to design solutions by humans, for humans, integrating design, science, and engineering to accelerate industrial adoption with a focus on sustainability and resilience.

At BEES, I support R&D and engineering across four core technical domains:
(1) Engineering and Intelligent Systems, including automation, cyber-physical and IoT systems, sensing platforms, and data acquisition and analytics;
(2) Advanced Materials and Circular Composites, such as bio-based binders, cellulose- and lignin-derived systems, nanocomposites, aerogels, hydrogels, geopolymers, 3D-printable cements, multifunctional coatings, adaptive materials, and circular composite processes;
(3) Sensing and Photonic Systems, including fibre-optic and photonic sensors, graphene-based platforms, and biosensing for structural and environmental monitoring; and
(4) Space Technologies and Plasma Diagnostics, covering laser–plasma systems, plasma sources, test benches, thrust stands, probe chains, vacuum testing, and IoT and data analytics integration.

I initially joined BEES as a consultant, providing technical direction and project structuring. Since January 2025, I have worked part-time, remotely, in R&D and Engineering. In this role, I align system requirements, measurement and validation strategies, and material or process decisions to help the team advance from research concepts to engineered demonstrators and viable industrial solutions. This collaboration will continue through November 2026.
