About
I am a Partner and Director for Artificial Intelligence at BCG GAMMA. In my work, i align the strategic direction and objective of clients with the business problem to see if digital transformation using new technology approaches and new processes can achieve competitive advantage. I build solutions to prove AND deliver significant PnL impact for my clients.
I am also the scientific advisor for AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) as well as for Quantum Computing for BCG. I sit at the crossroad of deep tech (new technology breakthroughs), Large corporate clients (Fortune 500) and startups.
AI has led to disruption and immense business impact for certain companies, but for 70% of companies, AI did not lead to a positive PnL impact. I%27ve studied (MIT-SLOAN) and lived through (Airbus) Digital transformation pioneers and laggards and what can be impactful for one company, might not have the same result for another. The key for AI lies in the combination of change management (70%), technology (10%) and data (20%).
In the past for example, I have identified the strategic importance of Quantum Computing for Airbus in an area where the compute paradigm of QC can represent a change from a 4 day process to a real-time solution. This would dramatically change the design process and the development of main airframe components. Since development of new aircraft is a 8-10 year process, anticipating a maturing QC within that time frame means that the groundwork for a process overhaul has to be laid today. It also means that QC technology should be able to demonstrate today how it could solve this problem in 8 years. Similarly, high performance computing of that problem would have to be adjusted. We did due-diligence into a startup at that junction of technology and successfully proved the solution path to that problem and subsequently invested into that startup.
Since those days, I have done several of these deep tech diligences for several of my clients, advising on why, how and when to invest into such technology (solutions).
I believe my deep expertise in AI and deep tech from a scientific, operational, advisory and execution point of view and my strong focus on impact generation will allow you to help understand opportunities, risks and threats around deep tech.
