About
I am a Full Professor of Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain Management with more than 30 years of experience in research, executive education, and international collaboration. Until the end of 2022, I served as President of a leading German Business School. Today, I am the founder of the ispira Think Tank for Sustainable Supply Chains, where I work with organizations to strengthen resilient, sustainable, and future-ready supply chains.
My expertise lies at the intersection of strategic procurement, sustainable supply chain management, circular business models, and responsible leadership. Through my research, executive training, and advisory work, I strive to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and business practice, helping organizations build resilience and create long-term value in increasingly complex global supply networks.
In addition to my academic work, I am actively engaged in several international initiatives, including the UN Global Compact Network Germany and PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education). These roles have enabled me to collaborate with universities, companies, and policymakers around the world. I am also involved in international university alliances that promote sustainability and responsible management on a global scale.
Most recently, I accepted my first Supervisory Board position with an international organization specializing in sustainability certification, and I am now interested in contributing my expertise to additional board and advisory roles in an international environment.
While I do not hold one of the specific governance certifications listed in your application, I have extensive experience educating and mentoring executives, senior leaders, and board members in various international programs. I therefore hope that my practical board experience, international leadership background, and recognized subject-matter expertise will be considered an appropriate alternative to a formal governance certificate.
