Laura Birrell

I am a CIMA qualified, multi award winning, motivated, and driven individual with a passion for business. I have a successful track record in developing business from startup to turnaround of failing businesses with my entrepreneurial approach. I have secured private investment for my own business that is now managed by distribution partners. I have been invited to sit on the Scottish Government’s Board of Trade to advise the Minster for Trade, Investment and Innovation on their approach to delivering the Export Strategy. I am a confident public speaker with excellent stakeholder communication skills. I always strive for excellence whether working on my own initiative or as part of a team.

I have over 30 years experience working within a diverse range of businesses gaining a wide skill set that covers, financial, business development, technology, HR, administration, contractual and environmental issues. As an entrepreneur with a passion for business my objective in any role is improving profitability, encouraging growth and exploring new business opportunities.

• I have worked in both the public and private sector, with experience of raising investment, securing grant funding, providing financial information, completion of HMRC returns and the production of management information.

• I am an experienced business developer including securing business with international business organisations.

• I am experienced and confident public speaker, with experience of managing a wide range of stakeholder groups.

• I am advisor to the Scottish Government Board of Trade and Investment sitting on board meetings with the Minister and senior Scottish Development International executives alongside other senior sector representatives.

• I have been engaged on a voluntary basis in the set up of Net Zero Community Scotland supporting a strategy for Scotland to deliver net zero business by 2045.

• I have secured patents and trade marks

• I am currently finalising development of a marketing app
