Kenneth Sundberg

With over 30 years of experience spanning academia, R&D, and executive leadership, I bring a unique blend of scientific expertise and business acumen to advisory roles in the chemical industry. Holding a PhD in natural materials chemistry and an eMBA, I’ve served as a professor, CEO, and board member — consistently bridging the gap between innovation and commercialization.

My core passion lies in advancing products rooted in renewable raw materials. This focus has led to successful global and international product launches, including a novel paper industry compound and award-winning exterior paints tailored for Nordic conditions. I’ve held leadership positions in companies such as Tikkurila, Raisio Chemicals, and Ciba, and contributed to the strategic direction of growth-stage firms like Chemigate Oy, Alina SIA, and Borealis Biopolymers Oy.

Beyond commercial roles, I actively give back through board positions in scientific organizations and mentoring programs. I served as a long-standing Advisory Board member at the Johan Gadolin Process Chemistry Center at Åbo Akademi University and mentored eMBA candidates at Turku School of Economics. I’ve also been part of the Research Council of the Finnish Forest Cluster and Scientific Advisory Board of the Federation of the Chemical Industry in Finland.
