Faizal has over 40 years of Business experience - MBA, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, Certified Risk Practioner, Chartered Director (IoD SA) – primarily concentrated in the Governance, Control Environment, Information, Combined Assurance and Technology space, with over thirty years in Business, Information Communication and related Technology and over 21 years in Audit, IT Assurance, Forensics and Consulting Services. Been in executive management in excess of 28 years, impacting nearly all dimensions of business, but specifically the top and bottom lines of organisations with his proven hands-on approach in strategic planning (corporate and business), policy and values formulation and definition, business and performance management, Corporate Governance, operations and risk management. His diversity of experiences enables him to drive and or assist in the rapid establishment of concrete strategic, commercial and operational objectives with clear measurable governance, business and administration outcomes with his clients, on the boards and Audit and Risk Committees (ARC’s) he serves on, and with his peers and staff. His unique consultative and participative manner in crossing the ‘gulf’ between strategy and operations has proven to be an immense differentiator in achieving client, and business growth successes. His guidance, ethics, integrity and leadership by example, and stewardship ensures management, team and corporate KPI’s are vigorously pursued and achieved through result oriented management and pertinent strategic posture, with a clear focus on people and technology as fundamental enablers. He possesses substantial Financial, Corporate Governance, Human Resource, Operations, Business, Risk, Audit, Forensics and Assurance management, negotiating and business skills, over a wide area of industries, specifically in the banking, Energy, ICT, Education, Regulatory, manufacturing, South African Government, and Health sectors. Faizal’s forte’ however is within Governance, Information, Communication and Technology (GICT), Risk Management, Governance and People Development and Intellectual Capitalization, having both executive management and hands on experience in all facets of business. At previous employers, SizweNtsaluba VSP (now SNG Grant Thientin), ORCA, Transnets’ Datavia, Infiniti Technologies, BIG and Mazars South Africa, he was a member of the respective Boards and was specifically employed to start-up, develop, right-size and or implement new business divisions and/or business units with a focus of Transformation and business growth and sustainability. Faizal also possesses substantial knowledge on the South African PFMA and MFMA and related National Treasury regulations, as well as business governance regulation such as King IV / Cadbury Code, BASEL III, COBIT 5, ITIL, COSO, ISO’s etcetera. Faizal was an international partner of Mazars, and was the South African National Partner accountable for the Information, Communication and Technology Advisory and Consulting business unit and was actively involved at national level with Mazars Business Development strategies in the public and private sectors. He is the managing director of his own Governance, IT Assurance and Consulting firm – Doccorp, before he join ORCA and then Mazars, and has been a board member of the South African Chapter of ISACA, responsible for certification, prior to becoming the Vice president in March 2010. He was also a board member for the Institute of Risk Management of South Africa and has lectured at Rand Afrikaans University (now Johannesburg University of Technology) on their Corporate Governance certification program and lectured at the University of Witwatersrand on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery within I.T., and continues to present at seminars on different topics and has written a number of articles on security over the past few years.
