Erik Åkesson

I am a Swede, living in Helsinki, Finland and I have 25+ years experiance from a variety of different sectors. I have a BSc in Nautical Science (Captains degree) and an MSc in Finance, both from Norway, and have studied and/or worked in all four Nordic countries, in addition to UK, Germany and Switzerland.

I have aprox 20 years of international banking experiance having worked at HSBC and RBS in London, Nordea in Copenhagen and Danske Bank in Sweden and Finland. I Co-founded a SaaS B2B Software Company, succesfully raised EUR1m in a seed round and built a working business out of that. I also, most recently, have 3 years in BearingPoint, as a Finance Tech Consultant where my role is to maintain senior strategic client relationships with various Nordic Banks and Insurers.

I am likely to be one of the %22most pan-Nordic%22 persons you will ever come across, having lived and worked in all four Nordic countries and so I will be of great service for any company facing intra-Nordic cooperation issues. I have a long history of cleaning up in legacy problem situations weather they being techical or cultural in nature.

I have led the Global Foreign Exchange business at Danske Bank and as such I am well aware of the challenges of running a team of 100+ professionals spead across 7 countries. I can step in and help in hard places and I am likely to be able to bring real experiance to the table.

On the side, I run www.erikventures.com, a Seed VC Fund, specialised in early stage funding of (predominately) Fintech Saas B2b Startups. I have made 10 investments where, for the majority, I am an active shareholder, providing not only capital, but also network and expertise.
